This procedure outlines the daily pre-operational inspection for the Detachable Lift, ensuring all systems are functional and safe before loading the public.

Visual inspection of loading and unloading terminals
Check vertical and horizontal clearances
Remove snow and ice as needed
Check communication system operation
Verify battery voltage & charger amps in normal range

Verify inside/outside stop/start controls function
Verify Bullwheel/Emergency stop function
Verify signs are present
Ensure fire extinguisher(s) present
Inspect loading/unloading area for ingress/egress of passengers
Verify safety gate operation
Verify tire pressures are sufficient for operation
Verify actuating devices and limit switches function properly
Conveyor and Rail System Inspection
Inspect conveyor system including V-belts, sheaves, gears, and universal shafts
Inspect rail systems for abnormalities and ensure they are clear of parts, tools, and debris including ice
Drive Terminal Inspection
Verify anti-rollback device(s) have freedom of movement and are clear of ice
Verify drive train alignment and integrity of components
Verify drive train backstop(s) properly engaged if equipped
Check proper operation of all braking systems, verify operating pressures, and visually inspect fittings, hydraulic lines, and liner clearances
Visual bullwheel tachometer inspection (if equipped)
Check gearbox oil levels, cooling system, associated hoses and pumps

Verify SPU/EPU Units engine, coolant, transmission fluid levels, and fuel supply is adequate to unload the aerial tramway plus 30min run time
Tension System Inspection
Verify sufficient travel to adjust to all normal operation changes in loading and temperature
Verify hydraulic or pneumatic systems are within working pressures and have adequate tank fluid, vessel pressures
Visual inspection of cylinders, hoses, manifolds
Verify tensioning carriage is free from obstructions and limit switches function properly

Line Inspection
Visual inspection of entire length of the aerial tramway for sheave/rope alignment, communication lines

Verify vertical and horizontal air space around lift is clear
Visually inspect carriers and carrier seats
Verify that the seat pads are in the down position according to Vail Resorts SOP
Visually inspect grips
