ELU – Quarterly Grinder 3 Assets (Group) PM
This procedure ensures Grinder 3, the incline conveyor, and Sterling blower E6 operate safely and reliably by verifying the condition of their key components on a quarterly basis.
ELU – Quarterly Grinder 3 Assets (Group) PM
This quarterly PM procedure covers Grinder 3 (75 hp), the incline conveyor, and Sterling blower E6, including LOTO verification, conveyor bearing and belt inspections, and detailed Grinder 3 checks (zero-speed sensor, chamber hardware, knife clearance and torque, pneumatic cylinder, and motor lubrication) per the Cumberland manual.
Conveyor
Inspect that all bearing mounting hardware is secure.
Inspect that all conveyor controls/safeties are secure and functioning.
Inspect belt/paddle condition along with the condition of the belt lacing.
Check the amount of catenary sag in the belt. Re-tension if needed.
Grinder 3 - 75-hp
Refer to the Cumberland Operation and Maintenance Manual attached to the work order as needed.
Check the Zero Speed Sensor operation - refer to the manual Section 3-7 on page 32 for testing. Refer to manual Section 4-26 on page 59 if adjustments are needed.
Check tightness of upper chamber hold down handles. Refer to Section 6, Cutting Chamber.
Check tightness of screen cradles. Refer to Section 6, Screen Replacement.
Check infeed flap position/condition. Refer to Section 6 Periodic Maintenance.
Check interlock actuator switch screws position/condition. Refer to Section 6, Screen Replacement/Cutting Chamber Access.
Check pneumatic cylinder travel adjustment - internal limit switches and chamber mounting bracket limit switch.
Check the pivot pins for the pneumatic cylinder to ensure they are tight. Refer to Section 6, Periodic Maintenance.
Inspect overall condition of pneumatic cylinder. Refer to Section 6, Periodic Maintenance.
Check knife clearance and wear. Refer to Section 4, Adjusting and Replacing the Rotor Knives.
Check that rotor and bed knife bolts have proper torque. Refer to Section 4, Adjusting and Replacing the Rotor Knives/Adjusting and Replacing the Bed Knives.
Motor Lubrication: Inject one pump of Mobil PolyRex EM blue electric motor grease into both grease zerks while the motor is running. Refer to Section 6, Lubrication and Periodic Maintenance.
Belt tension; Refer to Section 4, Settings and Adjustments.
