Ceiling Lift Inspection
This procedure ensures that ceiling lift systems are systematically inspected for mechanical integrity, motor function, sling attachment points, track condition, and weight capacity compliance, maintaining safe and reliable patient or load transfer operations, preventing equipment failures, and supporting adherence to applicable safety regulations and manufacturer maintenance requirements.
Mechanical
If an item fails inspection, replace or repair immediately.
Strap
Inspect strap for wear, fraying or other damage. Strap should be smooth and black with intact stitching.
Track Wheels
Check wheels for smooth operation, chipping or cracks, missing retention hardware, or other maintenance concerns.
Motor
Check motor for appropriate noise level; if the motor is noisier than normal, dismantle and check bearings and grease. Check spring-loaded graphite brush for wear level. Replace if less than 25%.
Gearbox
Feel and listen for any excessive vibration. Add PTFE grease via grease port.
Casing
Check plastic enclosure/casing for cracking or missing retaining hardware.

Pneumatic
If an item fails inspection, replace or repair immediately.

Log Pneumatic Repairs Performed
Electrical
If an item fails inspection, replace or repair immediately.
Charging Terminal
Check sliding charging terminal for breaks in continuity or broken/shorted wire. Tighten retaining hardware.
Batteries (SLA only)
Check battery voltage. Check battery capacity; if capacity is less than 4Ah, replace batteries. ALWAYS replace both batteries in tandem- NEVER replace only one battery.
