X Ray Preventive Maintenance

This PM keeps X-ray systems calibrated and safe—delivering consistent image quality, lower radiation dose, and high uptime—while extending asset life, ensuring compliance, and reducing emergency repairs and total cost of ownership.

    Section #1 Visual Inspection

    Generator Serial Number / Model

    Equipment Condition Before Maintenance

Attach clear photographs showing the condition of the X-ray unit prior to cleaning and maintenance. Ensure that all external components (control console, table, tube housing, cables, and collimator) are visible to document the initial state of the equipment, including any signs of dust accumulation, debris, wear, or improper arrangement. Note: The photo must be taken with the equipment powered off and from different angles to accurately reflect the overall condition before cleaning.

Verification of the external conditions of the unit:

Are all covers in good condition, showing no signs of cracks, wear, or overheating?

    • Pass
    • Flag
    • Fail

    Control buttons and potentiometers:

Are all buttons and potentiometers properly aligned and securely in place?

    • Pass
    • Flag
    • Fail

    Display condition:

Does the screen show any cracks, warping, or signs of wear on the liquid crystal or LED backlight?

    • Pass
    • Flag
    • Fail

    Display visibility:

Is the information on the display clearly visible to the naked eye and does not require additional lighting adjustments?

    • Pass
    • Flag
    • Fail

    High-voltage cables:

Are the high-voltage cables in good condition, showing no signs of overheating, cracking, or damage?

    • Pass
    • Flag
    • Fail

Conducting Gel of the High Voltage Cable replaced?

    • Yes
    • No
    • N / A

    Collimator:

Is the collimator operating within the illumination parameters, with adjustment buttons in good condition and proper light functionality?

    • Pass
    • Flag
    • Fail

    Additional cables and sensors:

Are additional network cables, monitors, or sensors in good condition, showing no signs of breakage, exposure, fragility, or overheating?

    • Pass
    • Flag
    • Fail

    Examination table top :

Is the table in good condition, performing movements properly, and is the brake functioning correctly?

    • Pass
    • Flag
    • Fail

    Equipment functionality:

Does the equipment present any issues that need to be escalated to certified personnel for special calibration? (To be completed by the unit operator.)

    • Pass
    • Flag
    • Fail

    Tabletop and Bucky performance:

Does the tabletop move and brake correctly, and is the Bucky mechanism functioning properly?

    • Pass
    • Flag
    • Fail

    Overall condition of the unit:

Is the unit operating in optimal condition?

    • Pass
    • Flag
    • Fail

Section #2 Comprehensive Cleaning and Vacuuming of the Unit

    Unit Cleaning and Vacuum Maintenance:

Perform a complete cleaning of the X-ray unit, including internal and external surfaces, using appropriate vacuum and dust removal procedures to ensure optimal performance and prevent overheating.

    Internal and Ventilation Areas

    Accessories and Peripherals

Section #3 Verification of calibration and alignment:

Confirm that all system components are properly calibrated and aligned according to manufacturer specifications, ensuring accurate image acquisition and optimal diagnostic performance.

    Light–Radiation Coincidence

Verify the alignment between the collimator’s light field and the actual X-ray radiation field. Ensure both fields coincide within the acceptable tolerance of ±10 mm in all directions. Any deviation beyond this range must be reported for recalibration by certified service

    • Flag
    • Fail

    Equipment Condition After Maintenance

Attach a clear photograph showing the overall condition of the X-ray unit after cleaning and maintenance. Ensure that key components (control console, table, tube housing, and collimator) are visible and properly aligned. Note: The photo must be taken from a safe distance, with the equipment powered off, and under adequate lighting to document cleanliness and proper organization of the unit.
