Internal Combustion Daily Checklist
Regular maintenance reduces the likelihood of unexpected breakdowns, ensuring that the engine remains reliable and operational when needed.
Internal Combustion Daily Checklist
This checklist covers the pre-shift inspection of internal combustion powered equipment, such as forklifts and other powered industrial trucks running on LPG, gasoline, or diesel. The operator completes it before first use each shift to confirm the unit is safe to operate. With the engine off, they check engine oil, coolant, and hydraulic fluid levels, look for leaks, and inspect tires, forks, chains, the mast, and the overhead guard for damage or wear. They also confirm that LPG tanks are secured with connections tight and not leaking, or that fuel caps are in place. With the engine running, they test the horn, lights, backup alarm, brakes, parking brake, steering, and lift, tilt, and hydraulic controls, and confirm the seatbelt works. Any defect affecting safe operation is reported right away, and the unit is tagged out of service until it’s repaired. The checklist reflects OSHA 1910.178 daily inspection requirements and the manufacturer’s recommendations.
