This weekly inspection verifies the proper operation and readiness of the fire pump system, including jockey, diesel, and electric pumps. It ensures critical components, controls, and safety functions are operating correctly to maintain reliable fire protection and regulatory compliance.

Fire Pump Inspection (Weekly)

    ***EAR PLUGS REQUIRED***

    Jockey Pump Checks

    Bleed off pressure on jockey pump system below electrical cabinet for jockey pump. Be careful to not turn valve open too much. Will result in diesel engine starting too soon.

    Diesel Pump Pre-Checks

    These Checks need performed prior to starting Diesel Engine

    Engine Oil Level OK

    15w-40 if needing oil. Record how much oil is added.

    Check Engine Coolant Level

    Add as necessary. Coolant is located in cabinet in pump house. Orange Coolant required.

    Do this slowly in order to retrieve the start up pressure.

    Record engine starting pressure

    Once engine has started, record Oil pressure located on side of engine

    IF OIL PRESSURE DOES NOT RISE WITHIN 3 SECONDS OF ENGINE STARTING: IMMEDIATELY SHUT ENGINE DOWN!

    After 5 mins has elapsed, record Engine RPM

    After 10 mins of run time record coolant temp of engine.

    IF coolant temp is too HIGH a bell will ring until engine is shut down. if bell is heard, shut down engine for follow up diagnostics.

    FAIL THIS SECTION and create follow up work order.

    Drip is fine. Gushing water is not.
