Electric Battery Water Level Check

This procedure ensures that the electrolyte water levels in electric batteries are regularly inspected and topped off as needed, preventing cell damage caused by low fluid levels, maintaining optimal battery charge capacity, and extending the overall service life of the battery system to support reliable equipment operation.

    Checking the Water Level

    Identify the Level:

    Low: If the lead plates are exposed to air, the water level is too low.

    Correct: The electrolyte fluid should completely submerge the lead plates and sit roughly 1/2 inch above the plates, or right at the bottom of the plastic fill well indicator line.

    Filling the Battery Cells

    Fill Carefully: Using a dedicated battery watering gun, a clean funnel, or a pouring jug, slowly add water to each individual cell.
