Pre-Start Operator's Checklist - Ride-On Mower

General Safety

• Operator is wearing appropriate PPE (safety boots, hearing protection, eye protection, gloves).

• ROPS (Roll Over Protection Structure) is in place and the seatbelt is functional.

• Test lights, indicators, beacon and horn & Safety interlocks (seat switch, brake switch) are operational.

Visual Inspection

• Check for fuel or oil leaks under the mower.

• Inspect tyres for damage and proper inflation.

• Ensure all guards, covers & Rego plate are securely in place.

• Check for loose or missing bolts, nuts, or pins.

Fluid Levels

• Engine oil, hydraulic fluid, Coolant levels – check & top up if necessary.

• Fuel level - ensure adequate fuel for the task.

Reportable Issues (previous operational day)

• Test brake and parking brake function.

• Ensure PTO (Power Take-Off) disengages properly.

• Check that all control levers and switches move freely.

• Start engine and listen for unusual noises.

• Check for warning lights or error codes on the display.

• Inspect blades for damage or excessive wear.

• Check deck height adjustment and ensure it moves freely. Clean debris from under/in the deck/cooling system/drive system.
