Regeneration Guidelines and Safety Procedures

Regeneration must be performed when the dryer is no longer able to produce the dew point specified. Dryer pressure MUST be at 10 PSIG. For best results, regeneration should be performed during the coolest part of the day. Condensate sump tank must be drained prior to start. WARNING: Failure to reduce pressure to 10 PSIG may result in blower damage or poor performance. Sudden or rapid changes of pressure may damage dryer blower. Use care in operating valves. Changes in pressure should not exceed 30 PSIG per minute. Procedure - refer to Flow Diagram in section VII. This procedure is for regenerating vessel T-1. To regenerate vessel T-2 substitute regeneration valves V3-2 and V4-2 for V3-1 and V4-1. Substitute process valves V2-2 and V5-2 for V2-1 and V5-1.

Reduce pressure to 10 PSIG by slowly opening valve V12 (located on the separator sump tank). Shut valve V12 when it reaches 10 PSIG. If operating pressure is lower than required regeneration pressure, open valve (supplied by others) from high pressure source to regeneration loop at valve V13 (blower drain valve). With optional RPC, Reduce pressure to 10 PSIG by slowly opening valve DHV (located on muffler/vent stack). Shut valve DHV when it reaches 10 PSIG. Open RHV valve to allow venting during heati

The approximate regeneration heating time is 6 hours. Within first 10 minutes:  TI-4 temperature should be at or near 425°F  PI-1 pressure should have risen from initial start pressure of 20 PSIG.  Cooler fan should be running unless ambient is below 40°F Throughout heating: NG-SRD IOM 33 PSB INDUSTRIES  TI-4 temperature should be at or near 425°F. If temperature falls below 400°F, open V13 to reduce pressure to 20 PSIG. Repeat depressurization as need throughout heating. With optional RPC, RV valve

The approximate cooling time is 4 hours. Within first 20 minutes:  Close V11 (blower bypass) when pressure starts dropping. Increments may be necessary to prevent blower overload. With optional RPC, close RHV to allow continued pressure during cooldown. Open PHV to allow makeup gas from process into regeneration when pressure falls below 20 PSIG Throughout cooling:  PI-1 pressure should be above 30-35 PSIG. If pressure falls below, open V1 and slightly open V2 till pressure rises above. With optional

and V5-1. IMPORTANT: During the heating cycle and approximately one-hour into the cooling cycle liquid condensate will form in the separator and be stored in the separator sump tank. Be sure that flexible drain hose “free drains” (no traps) to sump tank from separator. Note: Bypass valve V7 may be opened if the process flow is required during maintenance. Moisture will not be removed while bypass valve is opened.
