Quarterly fire door safety and condition check: The two main benefits of fire rated doors are facilitating a quick evacuation of people and their belongings, and reducing the rate of fire damage to the premises.
Is the door parallel and central within the frame?
Are there any signs of damage?
Is the frame secure?
Check signage for wear or damage
Is the frame fully sealed?
Is the gap around the whole door between 3mm - 4mm or less?
Intumescent seals in place?
Intumescent seals damaged?
Is there intumescent materials under the door?
Intumescent seals around glass?
Is the glass fire resistant? Please check for a kite mark present
Good quality steel hinges?
Any signs of wear or damage to the hinges?
Does the door engage the latch?
Does the door close from any angle?
Is the door functioning without defect?
Is there an automatic door closure fitted?
Check operation of lock/thumb lock if applicable
Is the door closure fitted and functioning correctly?
Are there signs of damage/wear to the door closure?
Is there a hold open device fitted?
If there is a hold open device fitted, are there signs of damage/wear?
Is the gap below the door less than 8mm?
Does the door touch the floor covering?
Any defects found during the check - please list the door number along side each defect found
