Are exits clearly marked, illuminated, and clear of obstructions?
Are exits unlocked from the inside and swing in the direction of exit travel?
Are curtains made of non-flammable material?
Are electrical switch panels labeled and is access unobstructed? (36" clearance required.)
Are weights and equipment properly racked and stored?
Are cables on apparatus securely attached and in good condition
Are goal posts, basketball backstop supports padded to a height beyond change of collision?
Are walls free of projecting objects?
Is the maximum occupancy capacity determined and signs specifying maximum number of occupants posted prominently?
Is emergency lighting provided and operable where required?
Are lockers in good condition and secured to the floor or wall with no sharp objects?
Is the gym equipment in good condition, with no obstructions or obvious hazards when playing games, gymnastics, wrestling, etc?
Are the bleachers or other seating in good condition and structurally adequate?
Do folding partitions in gym operate properly?
Are floors in shower and locker room areas not slippery, clean and tree of obvious hazards?
Are shower controls working properly?
Are shelves and storage units secured to the walls or braced to resist seismic movement?
Is there adequate first aid equipment placed appropriately throughout the building?
Is athletic equipment inspected for safety upon being issued or prior to each use?
Is running and other horseplay prohibited in locker rooms?
