1. Brake System Inspection
a. Check service brakes
b. Check parking brake system
c. Check brake drums or rotors

k. Check vacuum systems
2. Coupling Devices Inspection
a. Check fifth wheels
b. Check pintle hooks
c. Check drawbar/towbar eye
d. Check drawbar/towbar tongue
e. Check safety devices
f. Check saddle-mounts
3. Exhaust System Inspection
a. Check for leaks in the exhaust system determined to be leaking at a point forward of or directly below the driver/sleeper compartment
b. A bus exhaust system leaking or discharging to the atmosphere in violation of standards (1), (2), or (3).
c. No part of the exhaust system of any motor vehicle shall be so located as would be likely to result in burning, charring, or damaging the electrical wiring, the fuel supply, or any combustible part of the motor vehicle.
4. Fuel System Inspection
a. Check for visible leaks
b. Check if fuel tank filler cap is missing
c. Check if fuel tank is securely attached
5. Lighting Devices Inspection
Check all lighting devices and reflectors required by Section 393 shoall be operable.
6. Safe Loading Inspection
a. Check for conditions that may cause parts to fall onto the roadway
b. Check protection against shifting cargo
7. Steering Mechanism Inspection
a. Check steering wheel free play
b. Check steering column
c. Check front axle beam and all steering components other than steering column
d. Check steering gear box
e. Check pitman arm
f. Check power steering
g. Check ball and socket joints
h. Check tie rods and drag links
i. Check nuts
j. Check steering system
8. Suspension Inspection
a. Any U-bolt(s), spring hanger(s), or other axle positioning part(s) cracked, broken, loose or missing resulting in shifting of an axle from its normal position.
b. Spring Assembly
c. Torque, Radius or Tracking Components.
9. Frame Inspection
a. Check frame members
b. Check tire and wheel clearance
c. Check adjustable axle assemblies (sliding subframes)
10. Tires Inspection
a. Check tires on any steering axle of a power unit
b. Check all other tires
11. Wheels and Rims Inspection
a. Check lock or side ring
b. Check wheels and rims
c. Check fasteners
d. Check welds
12. Windshield Glazing Inspection
Check for any crack, discoloration or vision reducing matter
13. Windshield Wipers Inspection
Check for inoperative wiper, or missing or damaged parts
Additional Checks
Check all lights, fluids, tires, brakes, brake components, and wheel seals
Check for exhaust, fluid, and air leaks
Check both fan and AC belts
Check battery terminals
Ensure drive line, suspension, and front end components are tight and in proper order
Check glad hands and trailer light cord
Ensure spare tire, filters, and safety equipment are in place
Lube door latches and hinges, wiper linkage, and 5th wheel play
Replace air dryer cartridge
Replace DEF filter
