Crane Pre-Use Inspection Checklist

This pre-use checklist intends to identify defects and safety hazards before operation. The main aim of a pre-start checklist inspection is to ensure that your equipment is safe to use.

    Inspector/Crane Operator:

    Date and time of inspection:

    Crane Number:

    Check that the crane or hoist is not tagged with an our of order sign

    Test run each motion to ensure they are working properly

    Check for excessive drift in each motion of the crane and that stopping distance is normal

    Check that the upper limit device stops the lifting motion of the hoist load block before striking any part of the hoist or crane

    Check for any sign of oil leakage on the crane and on the floor beneath the crane.

    Check for any unusual sound from the crane or hoist mechanism while operating the crane or hoist.

    Check that warning and other safety labels are not missing and are legible.

    Check area for accumulation of material to prevent tripping or slipping. Also ensure there is plenty of lighting in the area.

    Additional Comments or Requirements

    Had issues with oil leakage earlier in the project so will contact the maintenance tech and have him check it again.

    Safety labels are still okay, but might needs some fresh ones in the next few ones in the next few weeks as they are becoming harder to read and we have some new operators in.
