M3-6 Wheel & Caster Replacement
This procedure describes how a field technician replaces a missing or damaged wheel/caster on a Caper
Cart. It applies to supporting caster wheels — such as the rear swivel caster (part 01.99.99.000117) —
where the cart is otherwise functional.
Tools & Parts Required
Safety
Replace Caster Wheel
Confirm the affected wheel position from the ticket and verify the replacement matches it (e.g., rear caster, part 01.99.99.000117).
Power off the cart and move it to a stable, level work area. Support or tilt the cart so the affected wheel mount is accessible and the cart cannot roll or fall. If a damaged caster/wheel is still attached, remove it from the frame.
On the new caster, undo the axle bolt and nut and remove the wheel from the caster fork.
Insert the caster stem into the cart's mount and tighten it fully so the caster is secure and does not spin loose in the frame.
Reinstall the wheel into the caster fork and secure it with the axle bolt and nut; tighten fully.
Confirm the wheel spins and swivels freely without wobble and the caster is tight in the frame.
Set the cart down, confirm it sits level on all wheels, and mark the repair complete.
Verification & Sign-Off
Caster is tight in the frame with no play at the stem.
Axle bolt and nut are fully tightened; the wheel spins and swivels freely with no wobble.
Cart sits level on all wheels.
Photograph the completed repair, attach it to the ticket, and close the ticket.
