  • Develop and document machinery energy control procedures

  • OSHA explains what should be included in the documents as follows:

  • Select and train employees authorized to use LOTO procedures

  • Stage: LOTO application

  • Prepare for the machinery lockout/tagout

  • Shut down

  • Isolation of energy sources

  • Lock and tag placement

  • Stored energy release

  • Energy isolation verification

  • Stage: LOTO removal

  • Equipment re-energization

  • Procedure update
