Unison Blower Oil Change / Belt Change

Safety

• Follow lockout/Tagout of blower motor and associated electrical feeds

• Wear appropriate PPE: safety glasses and gloves

Materials and Tools

• Crescent wrench

• VG-220 oil

• Oak Grove & Pine Ridge - 5VX950 3 ribbed belt / Richland Creek - 5VX1000 4 ribbed belt

• Empty container (for oil disposal)

• Laser alignment tool

• Liquid thread sealant

Oil Change Procedure

• Remove breather from drive end and gear ends of blower housing.

• Place empty container under drain plug on drive end side of blower. Remove drain plug. Allow oil to drain into container until housing is empty. Repeat process on gear end.

• Clean threads on plug and place a small amount of thread sealant on to help prevent leaking. Replace drain plug.

• Replace oil in drive end and gear end. Oil should be filled to the middle of the sight glass. DE: 1.5 qts. GE: 3 qts.

Belt Change Procedure

• Remove belt guards and clean any debris from drive area.

• Inspect the current belt and pulley for wear patterns - this will help diagnose alignment issues.

• Loosen the motor mounting bolts and tensioning slide to relieve belt tension.

• Push the motor on the slide inward to slacken the belt.

• Remove the belt by hand - avoid using tools that could damage the pulley grooves.

• Inspect pulley for: cracks, rust, groove wear, misalignment.

• Install new belt and ensure if sits evenly in the pulley grooves.

• Pull the motor outwards to apply tension, then lightly tighten the motor bolts.

• Adjust alignment as needed with laser tool before final tensioning. 21 lbs. desired.

• Rotate the blower shaft by hand to ensure smooth belt tracking. Recheck tension after rotation.

• Reinstall belt guards securely, remove tools and clear the area.

• Remove LOTO and return the blower to operations for startup.
