It is recommended that you use this checklist to complete periodic safety checks of the outdoor play area to reduce the potential of accidents and injuries.

GENERAL MAINTENANCE & INSPECTION ITEMS
For first 3 years, water ALL new trees weekly so that soil to depth of roots is moist.
Mow turf and direct cuttings away from gardens.
Weed-whack around inlet and outlet structures (boulders).
Remove trash and debris from within and around gardens.
Access flow channels and clear out debris, trash and sediment.
Remove weedy and invasive plants.
Remove sediment build-up, especially at inlets & outlets.*
Remove and replace any dead plugs with approved plants.
Repair soil erosion gullies throughout rain garden, around inflow & outflow areas.
Repair erosion on all contributing areas within park.
Fill in animal burrows within or near rain gardens.
Repair signage if faded, or tagged, and replace if missing.
