Well Motor Lubrication Procedure - US Motors

Annual Lubrication procedure for well pump motors using a US Motors electric motor. This ensures that vertical well motors are properly lubricated to maintain optimal performance and prevent premature wear. This procedure involves applying the recommended amount of NLGI #3 grease to the motor bearings, conducting the lubrication process safely, and ensuring compatibility of lubricants. Regular annual lubrication helps extend motor life, reduce downtime, and improve overall system reliability.

Well Motor Lubrication Procedure - US Motors

Well name and number

Materials: Chevron GST Oil 32, Mobile Polyrex EM Grease, Teflon tape, waste oil bucket, catch pan, funnel, absorbant rags

Ensure pump is at rest and locked out

Upper Bearing: Drain oil from the drain line and annotate condition of oil

Once all oil is drained, replace the drain plug

Add oil into oil fill hole until the oil level reaches between the minimum and maximum marks on the sight gauge window

Lower Bearing: Remove the drain plug and inspect grease drain for any blockage with a mechanical probe

make sure the grease zerk is clean and then add new grease until the old grease begins to drain out the outlet.

Remove the lockout and run motor for 15 minutes with the drain plug removed to allow purging of any excess grease

Turn the motor off and install the drain plug

Return pump to service
