Brakes

• Check the Brakes

• Test the Emergency Brake

Interior

• Check the Horn

• Inspect the Seatbelts for damage or fraying. Ensure all the clasps operate as intended.

• Test the heating system to ensure it is operating correctly. Pay attention and note if it fogging up the windshield. Also check for any antifreeze on passenger side floorboard or around glovebox.

• Check to see that all the provided emergency equipment is in the proper place and in good working order.

Registration

• Check that the registration is in the glovebox or storage compartment and current.

• Check that the insurance cards for the vehicle are with the registration and current.

Lights

• Inspect the headlights to ensure they are functioning as intended.

• Make sure the tail lights are in good working order.

• Test out the brake lights.

• Check the turn signals on both the front and rear.

• Check the reverse lights for proper operation.

• Test the 4 way flashers.

• Verify that the license plate light is in working order.

Tires

• Inspect the condition of the tires. Look for signs of uneven wear such as, excessive wear on the inside or outside edge.

• Check the air pressure in each tire, and ensure they are properly inflated.

• Make sure the spare tire is present and in good working condition.

• Ensure the tools for replacing a tire are in their proper location and in good working order.

• Check the alignment of the tires.

Under the Hood

• Check the oil level and the condition of the oil. Top off if necessary.

• Check the level of the brake fluid.

• Check the power steering fluid level and condition of the fluid.

• Check the windshield washer fluid level.

• Check the coolant level and condition. (Never do this while hot)

• Check the transmission fluid level.

• Visually inspect the battery for any signs of corrosion, bulging, leaking, or other abnormal wear and tear.

• Visually inspect all hoses for any signs of leaking, cracking, bulging, or excessive wear and tear.

• Visually inspect the belts for signs or cracking or fraying. Ensure they are in good condition.

• Check the air filter and make sure it is good working order.

Mirrors

• Inspect both side mirrors. Make sure they are in good working condition and free of cracks or damage.

• Inspect the rearview mirror to ensure it is in good working order.

Windows

• Visually inspect the windshield for cracking or chips that need to be repaired.

• Visually inspect the rear and side windows for any signs of damage.

• Verify that the window controls are all in good working condition.

• Inspect the windshield wipers and make sure they are in good working order.

Doors

• Visually inspect all doors for any signs of damage.

• Check that all doors are in good working order. Opening and closing as they should.

• Verify that all door locks are in good working condition.

• If any hydraulic cylinders are present on doors or hatches, make sure they are working as intended to both assist in opening and holding up the hatch.
