SORT - SEIRI
There are no irrelevant materials, personal items, empty boxes, trash, junk, etc.
There are no uncontrolled documents?
No excess pieces of equipment, trash, fasteners, carts, bins, boxes, bolts….
Trash cans/bins/Hoppers are not full or overflowing
Kanban Carts and Non-Conforming Carts are clear of misc. items.
SET IN ORDER - SEITON
Locations for tools, carts, hoppers and equipment are clean and well organized
Locations for materials and products are clean, marked, and well organized
Labels exist to indicate locations, containers, boxes, shelves & stored items
Are all pallets on a pallet cart? (There should be no pallets on the floor!)
Evidence of inventory control exists (i.e. Kanban cards, racks, storage)
SHINE - SEISO
Carts, Tables, Cabinets, Shelves, Workstations are free from dust and in good repair
Machines, equipment and tools, carts are clean
Shine - Is there a designated area for cleaning supplies? (Brooms , Mops, Rags, Buckets)

Does the tape used correlate with the 6S Color Code (Example, Black Tape = Trash Cans, Work Stations)
Are shadow boards posted if so are all tooling readily accessible?
SUSTAIN - SHITSUKE
Are resources and time allocated to 6S activities (Daily, Weekly, clean-up, etc?)
Can items be located in 30 seconds?
SAFETY
Are walkways and access to safety equipment clearly identified and unobstructed?
Are employees wearing required PPE for their current work activity?
Extension cords are clear of pathways, strips are not daisy-chained, outlets are clear
